info

Located just outside the backrooms, Mushrot is a universe that can be incredibly difficult to get to. If you’re destined to end up there, you will. If you’re not, you won’t. Trying to get there yourself can be impossible. It’s heavily based on weirdcore/ dreamcore type aesthetics, so it may seem incredibly odd. Both comforting, yet unsettling. Familiar, yet illogical. The skies and clouds might be an unnatural color. The stars in the night sky are colorful, like glitter or confetti. There might be an abnormally large number of rainbows in the sky. Civilians are very obviously inhuman, yet oddly familiar. Think of your typical object-head character, any brightly colored anthropomorphic animal, biblically accurate angels, clowns, shadow people, and most anything in between. There’s plenty of old abandoned churches, there’s schools, playgrounds, grocery stores, restaurants, even doctor’s offices. Mushrot has all of the functions of an ordinary place, but it’s very weird. For example, some places might be weirdly outdated- a McDonald’s that looks straight from the 80’s, places that are actually shut down in our dimension, diners that look right from the 50’s.Some people aren’t allowed to enroll in the schools, whereas some are. No one knows how they decide this. Not even most of the school staff. They’ll send a request to a mysterious higher up and get their response- either, “yes, enroll their child in this school,” or, “no, deny them.”The schools are intentionally confusing and impossible to follow. The students are allowed to nap, draw, read, etc. as long as they don’t disrupt the teacher. They’ll graduate as long as they pay attention in the one class that matters- how to navigate and survive the backrooms. Aside from that, it really doesn’t matter. Some people in Mushrot were originally from our dimension, whereas others were born and raised in Mushrot. Because humans do live there, things like homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, etc. do exist in Mushrot, but trust me, you won’t have people backing you up on that. Bigotry is a known concept, but people in Mushrot are smarter and more accepting and tolerant than the people of our dimension. There’s no jail, but if you do something bad, a more powerful Mushrot native (or Mushrian) might cause you to feel severe pain for their chosen amount of time, brutally end your life, or lock you in a torturous pocket dimension the rest of eternity. You won’t be able to die in those places, but trust me, you’ll want to.Some humans get inverted, which means their physical appearance is altered upon entering Mushrot. Most commonly, it either won’t happen, or you’ll become a shadow person, but there is a chance you might look odd and fun like a Mushrian. They’ll still be able to tell you’re human, though.Entities from the backrooms are unable to enter Mushrot. Mushrians are able to enter the backrooms and won’t get attacked by the entities, so long as they don’t provoke them. They sometimes bring back almond water or items they find. Often, they go in specifically for almond water, seeking out its healing properties. Mushrians always know how to get home. They don’t allow their children to enter, due to the chance that they may provoke an entity. There’s classes in the schools for navigating the backrooms- the one class that won’t be absolute nonsense. The food is very odd in Mushrot. Raw meat, rotting fruits, mushrooms straight from the dirt, teeth, and even bones. Surprisingly, none of these are harmful to humans. If you went to Mushrot and got served one of these meals, it would be perfectly edible to you and not dangerous. It can even taste really good. Of course, don’t take food from strangers! There’s a surplus of nostalgic childhood foods available in stores and some restaurants- Little Debby Snacks, Lunchables, Kid Cuisine, Hug’s Fruit Barrels, and even some foods that were discontinued in our dimension, like Yogos and Trix Yogurt. Some houses and places are in the form of pocket dimensions. Only the people who created them can access the door to them. Only more powerful Mushrians are able to do this. For example, my oc Void created themself a home. They can access the door to this pocket dimension, and only they get to decide who enters and exits. They could make the door appear anywhere- even in an empty field or against a wall that previously never had a door- and it’ll disappear when they’re done using it. They could also use a door that already exists and make it lead to their home, and it’ll go back to what it’s originally for once they’re done using it. They can also create any furniture they’d like with only their will. Some people can be very malicious, making sure to be sneaky and get away with their abuse and crimes. Toxic people still exist in Mushrot. My best advice would be to tell a trusted Mushrian who has the ability to punish them. Some buildings appear completely normal from the outside, but are very nonsensical and otherworldly on the inside. You might step into what you think will be a normal home only to see a seemingly infinite stretch of some strange space- a land made entirely of candy, an infinite body of shallow water, a platform in a vast sky with only a mysterious creature looming ahead. These buildings vary in how easy they are to get back from. It might be impossible for a foreigner to tell, but the Mushrians are always able to tell. This is one of the things they’ll learn in the schools. Sometimes the building will have a sign indicating what’s inside and how safe it is, but sometimes it won’t. They call these types of pocket dimensions "attractions".Sometimes, Mushrians who desperately want to have a child or someone to raise will be granted this wish in a peculiar way. Someone from our dimension- anywhere from 0 to 17- who’s in an abusive situation with their family will suddenly go missing and appear in Mushrot. They’ll wake up in this family’s house and be given a chance to live a happy life with a new Mushrian family.Mushrot is a very good place for any kind of alternative fashion. There’s Mushrians who dress in all sorts of ways- of course, the most common fashion is weirdcore/ dreamcore/ kidcore/ clowncore or decora fashion, but other forms of fashion do exist. Mushrians won’t be rude about it, either. You could walk up to a Mushrian wearing nothing but a garbage bag and they’d think nothing of it.Some media from our dimension is available to Mushrot. CD’s of our music, DVD’s of our movies and shows are available in movie and music shops. The technology in Mushrot is mostly vintage, but they do have smartphones. Our internet doesn’t exist to them, they have their own internet and websites. Mushrians can’t access earth internet and humans can’t access Mushrot internet. Their internet more resembles the way the internet looked and functioned in the 90's-2000's.Have you ever lost something and never found it again and you always wondered what happened to it? Sometimes things like this will wind up in Mushrot! It just depends. Our earth alphabet systems do exist in Mushrot, but there’s also the Mushrian alphabet which exists too!The flowers that have mouths on them are called two-lips. I just wanted to mention that. Most of the water is breathable- you’ll be able to breathe under water in most of Mushrot (the only exception is the water in some of the pocket dimensions).Mushrian currency works in strange ways. Their main form of currency is teeth, but most shops will gladly work on trades. Shops will commonly give things away for free completely at random as well. There are a few unspoken rules of how to survive in Mushrot which are as follows:1. If a portal opens randomly in the room you’re in, exit the room. Periodically check to see if it’s gone, but don’t stay in the room with it.2. If you find large bags full of the same item, such as phones, cameras, etc., you can take no more than two! Bags of necessities (food, clothes, hygiene products, etc.) do not count.3. DO NOT stare into the sun! You thought that was bad in our dimension, you should see how quick you go blind from that in Mushrot!4. If strange orbs appear and float around you, it’s fine! You can honestly bat them around like balloons if you want or even just ignore them. They’re harmless!5. Feelings of dissociation, derealization, or depersonalization may occur. This is normal.6. If fixtures like streets/ roads or sidewalks stretch up into the sky, there’s no need to run or hide! You can walk right past it! But don’t try to go up. You wouldn’t like where it leads.7. Sometimes vehicles can fly!8. DO NOT enter the backrooms, at least not without a well trained Mushrian with you.

breeds

There are several different Mushrian breeds, much like how there are several breeds of dogs and cats. Here's a list of them!Shadow People
Shadow people consist of the negative, rude, toxic, aggressive people who are then turned into shadow people so you know who to avoid. Some people are just born shadow people, but it’s very rare. Mushrians are always able to tell which ones were born that way and which ones are like that bc they suck- they just kind of know. Sometimes the ones who are born that way will also have visible eyes or something- the ones who are turned that way because they’re terrible are just shadows.
Light People
Light people are basically the opposite of shadow people- they’re very kind and trustworthy people naturally.
Globs
Globs are inky black figures often with some noticeable feature like visible eyes or teeth. They aren’t blurry like shadow people. Like humans, they can have all different kinds of personalities- there’s not really any distinctly common traits between them.
Angels
The personification of biblically accurate angels. They’re naturally very peaceful beings and they don’t need to eat food or sleep.
Imps
Imps are naturally childish and they commonly deal with age regression, peter pan syndrome, or both. They typically won’t be childish in situations where it’d be inappropriate or rude, but their inner child is very active. Their horns and tail are normally white, but they can also be any other color. Their horns aren’t typically very large but they appear in multiple kinds of shapes.
Clowns
All different kinds of clowns are present in Mushrot. The face markings and hair color vary from clown to clown, and it doesn’t wash off- it’s actually a natural part of them! They’re pretty naturally hyper and bubbly but they can get drowsy just like any other living creature. It’s common for the clowns to have ADHD, but it’s not necessarily always the case. You can be a Mushrian clown without ADHD and you can have ADHD in Mushrot without being a clown.
TV Heads
TV heads are naturally pretty chill and can have very spunky attitudes. The screens are solid but sometimes they can change into a strange material you can put food and stuff into while they eat. Some of them have just static screens, some of them display actual images, and some have pixelated faces. When they’re asleep or dead, their screens will turn off. Some of them will bleed if their screens are broken (the blood can be static, normal blood, black ooze, etc.) but it’s not easy to break them since they’re not normal glass and have the ability to become non-solid textures while eating.
Humanoids
The humanoids look like humans but with strange physical abnormalities- more than four limbs, more than two or less than two eyes, etc. They’re naturally somewhat hyper and unpredictable and weird, but not in a bad way.
Sad Clowns
Sad clowns tend to be down, but they can still enjoy life, regardless of their gloomy exterior. It’s common for them to have depression, but like clowns and ADHD, it’s not always the case. Sometimes they can have a colorful pallet, sometimes they’re black and white.
Humanoid Inhumans
Some anthropomorphic animals exist- they can be mammals, birds, insects, fish, etc. and, like humans, they can have all different kinds of personalities- there’s not really any distinctly common traits between them.
Object Heads
The kinds of objects for their heads can be anything- a mug, a telephone, a food item, a camera, etc. and they’re typically very chill people.
Zombies
Not all of the zombies are green or rotting, but they’re all technically undead despite being sentient. They can still process things and make decisions and have personalities. They’re not brainless shells like most zombies we watch movies about. It’s common for zombies to have POTS, but like clowns with ADHD, it’s not always the case.
Glitches
Glitches can present as old video game character styles, they’re typically pixelated or blurry, and their voices sound like they’re coming from an old TV or an old video game console.
Robots
Some robots have built in wigs, some don’t. Some have antennas, some don’t. Some wear clothes, some don’t. They have personalities and intelligence and they’re aware that they’re robots but they’re fully content with that. It’s not like a M3GAN situation where they want more and end up being evil- Mushrian robots are typically very polite and helpful. Some of them also have silicone skin and some don’t- similarly, some of them have said skin only on one or two parts of their bodies while some have it all over. Some of them are anatomically correct and some aren’t. Some Mushrian robots have full sentience and capability of feeling real emotions, some don't. Some of them are powered by an unknown force, such as magic, and some are powered by AI. The best part? Unlike generative AI in our universe, robotic Mushrians that are powered by AI do not waste any water, steal any art, etc. AI in Mushrot is more like what we imagined AI to be like before the 2010's and 2020's.
Mimes
Mimes are either completely black and white or black and white but with red lips and sometimes a few red details in their clothing, like red suspenders. Overall, their pallet is black and white. They’re pretty much always either mute or nonverbal, or just don't enjoy speaking. Some of them communicate with sign language, some with charades, and some switch between the two. They’re typically pretty shy.
Elves
Elves tend to look humanoid aside from their large pointed ears. They can be different lengths and shapes, but they’re still usually pointed at the end. Some have bug like wings as well, resembling butterflies, dragonflies, moths, etc. Like humans, they can have all different kinds of personalities- there’s not really any distinctly common traits between them.
Mixed breeds are very common as well. One can be mixed between several at a time, even. The only ones that can’t be cross-bred are shadow people and light people. You can’t mix them with any other species, especially not each other. There’s no “this is a minority and they experience prejudice” type situations. Again, Mushrot knows what bigotry is, but Mushrians are much more smart and tolerant than most people on earth are.

I would try to squeeze them into this Carrd page but I'm running out of space! I do not have Carrd premium! I apologize for any inconveniences!!

animal species

There are many species of animals in Mushrot!Glooboos
Glooboos are small, randomly shaped creatures with thick layers of fluff covering their bodies. They have no arms or legs, so it's a bit of a mystery how they move. The only thing you can see on them is a vague shape of fluff, usually spherical, and various amounts of eyes speckled along them. They are not dangerous and can be tamed and kept as pets.
Mannequins
There are sentient mannequins that act as animals in Mushrot. They can only move when no one is looking directly at them and they are not inherently dangerous, but they can be when they are provoked.
Anomaly Regulars
Anomaly regulars are copies of animals we have in our dimension, such as dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc. but they usually have some kind of trait that sets them apart from animals in our dimension. Extra sets of eyes or limbs, the ability to float or morph shapes, etc.
Angeleyes
Eyeballs with sets of angel wings. They will not purposefully attack, but they are incredibly dangerous to be around regardless. If you look into their eye for longer than 40 seconds, several bad things could happen to you. You could be temporarily paralyzed, have a seizure, fall into psychosis, drop dead, or just gain a headache, fever, or stomachache.
Taxidermy
In Mushrot, taxidermy is not as simple as stuffing a dead animal carcass. For Mushrians, taxidermy exists as a way to bring their beloved pets back to life. Taxidermies do not need to eat or sleep and they are not dangerous.
